What is PhysioTherapy?

Physiotherapy is a science-based health care profession which involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a range of diseases, disorders and disabilities, muscular and skeletal injuries including sport injuries and road traffic injuries are the most commonly treated by Physiotherapists but nowadays Physiotherapy is applied for Cardio-Respiratory rehabilitation, cure and prevention of Osteoporosis, elderly and infant care and many neurological problems.
Physiotherapy is considered conventional medicine.

To become a Physiotherapist you must first complete a four years degree, during this time you must complete over 1,000 hours of clinical practice in general Physiotherapy which includes many different specialties, this is an invaluable experience for the Physiotherapist as in a Hospital there are opportunities to see many and many more cases and to have the support of a Supervisor, Doctor and Surgeon. Once completed the degree program the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) will release a license and insurance.

A professional F.A club or League of Ireland club must have a Physiotherapist in its medical staff in order to qualify for Premiership licence.

Some Physiotherapists go on to obtain a Master's degrees in Sports Medicine, or other specialty areas. Chartered Physiotherapist CPD (Continuous Professional Development) is on an annual basis and is closely monitored by the ISCP.
