Pre-Event Massage
This is a short, specific treatment given 2 hours to 15-25 minutes- before an event. The goal of treatment is to help warm up and optimize the athlete potential at that particular time, factor like stress, nervousness and fatigue must be considered while performing pre event massage
Pre-event massage can improve performance. It is important to know your clients sport or activity and what muscles are used the most. It is also necessary to assess the athlete's condition and needs prior to treatment. 3 Post Event Massage
Post Event this treatments are done immediately after an event, usually within 1-2 hours. The goal of the session is to flush the tissue of the lactic acid and other by products of metabolism. The intent is to cool down the body and return it to homeostasis. Muscle tension, cramping, and inflammation are also addressed. Athletes competing in an event may be left extremely fatigued. Massage can reduce the recovery time of such an effort.
Preventive massage is the regular maintenance massage that works with those muscles that are used most in the specific sport. The goal is to keep the muscle tissue most pliable to ensure peak performance and to reduce the risk of injury. A very important part of preventive massage is stretching and information on hydration, nutrition and proper strength training.
Corrective Massage each individual has specific needs - from stress reduction to postural distortion to chronic pain - and requires specialized treatment.Rather than focus on one type of therapy, the therapist will determine the best course of treatment. In every session, the therapist will utilize the combination of modalities necessary to help facilitate your healing process.
Inter- and intra-event massage is given between events or in time-outs to help athletes recover from the preceding activity, and prepare for the activity coming up. It is also short, and focuses on the major muscles stressed in the activity.
Conditioning massage is part of a training program and it help to maximise the athlete potential.
