Epicondylitis

What is?

Epicondylitis is a term to define an injury to the Medium or lateral side of the elbow.
Epicondylitis is an inflammation, an irritation or a slight tear of the tendon or muscle of the elbow.

The symptom includes pain, swelling, redness or irritation to either side of the elbow.

Lateral Epicondylitis or Tennis Elbow:
pain can extend to the wrist, to the forearm, gripping objects or turning your hand and swinging your arm particularly when bending wrist backward ( away from palm ).


Causes:
repetitive action
incorrect techniques in raquet sport.
wrong equipment ( raquet too small, too tightly strung....
muscle imbalance, weak shoulder or wrist.

Medial Epicondylitis or Golfer Elbow:
pain can extend to the wrist, to the forearm, gripping objects or turning your hand and swinging your arm particularly when bending wrist towards the hand.
Causes:
bending the wrist towards the hand with excessive force.
Golf swing, throwing a baseball, carrying heavy suitcase, repetitive actions.

Dual epicondylitis:
it is possible to injure both lateral and medial side of elbow, the causes are numerous but generally repetitive actions as in raquet sports.
