
This is a rare multiple injury to the leg, in this case the player was very unlucky as the lower attachment of the hamstring detached from the bone taking a piece of the 'fibula' with it, the unlucky part was that the player lateral collateral ligament and the hamstring were interconnected so the collateral ligament detached as well, also the Cruciate ligament was damaged.
From the photo you can see the difference in size of the legs 48 hour later.
This injury required surgery and 7 months of rehabilitation, the Cruciate had to be reconstructed in a later time as it did not repair itself so it required another 7 months of rehab.
